Machining neck cones for the frame jig. Start with this girthy bad boy.
Slap it in your bandsaw.
Make sure you read this note... It's important...
Snack while you cut... These are delicious. You would think that they're dry, but HAILS NO! Plus I dig the name.
Chuck it up in your lathe and face the shit out of it!
After facing, turn the outside to size.
Now use a tool like this, to make a hole like this vvv
Next throw a drill bit down the hole you just made with the center drill.
Holiest of holy's... Dirty hole... Minor thread diameter... 9/16 drill hole...
Next cram your 3/4 16 UNF tap into the new drill hole. Power tap style.
Realize the pitch is to fine to power tap, so finish it up with your tap handle.
Now you need to set your cross slide 45' to cut your 90' taper.
Turn it out till you have a sweet 90' included angle. Don't forget to reverse the spindle since your cutting on the backside of the work piece.
Part it off and put a bolt in it like this. You'll need it for the next step. Scroll down to see the action!
Once you get the bolt in. Transfer it to the indexing head you have on your mill.
Touch off on your workpiece and lower your Z down the amount needed to mill out a 1 3/4" hex. In this case .264.
Make your cut, then index the head 60' and repeat. Always repeat...
Once your done with the indexing you are left with hex head glory!
Nuts! Do it all again till you have a pair. Make sure you deburr them till they are pleasant to the touch.
Ultimate payoff? Robot pasta. Delicious!
